I've been a painter for years, working primarily in acrylics, but I've recently become fascinated with mixed media art techniques after seeing some incredible textural pieces that incorporate paper collage, fabric, and even small found objects. My first few attempts have been frustrating, though, as my layers of paint, ink, and paper either look muddy and overworked or they fail to adhere properly, with elements peeling or warping as the piece dries.
