I'm trying to understand how to effectively manage this long-term beyond just taking a pill. I've started walking daily and cutting back on salt, but I'm confused by conflicting advice about things like caffeine, specific diets like DASH, and how to accurately monitor my blood pressure at home. You're doing the right thing by focusing on lifestyle along with meds. For me, consistent daily activity (walks, a short brisk session 3–4x/wk), steady sleep, and a firm sodium cap (<1500 mg/day when possible) made the biggest difference over months. I still take meds as prescribed and track my BP, but the trend matters more than single readings.
