I’ve been restoring this old wooden sailboat in my garage for the better part of three years, and I’ve finally hit a wall I can’t seem to get past. The original keel bolts are completely seized with corrosion, and every method I’ve tried—heat, penetrating oil, even an impact wrench—has failed to budge them. I’m terrified of shearing them off completely and turning a major project into a catastrophic one. I’m reaching out here because I’m genuinely stuck and hoping someone has faced this specific **anchor** problem before and found a solution that doesn’t involve a cutting torch or a massive repair bill. The whole project is on hold until I can figure out a safe way to remove these things without destroying the keel.

Try controlled induction heating to free seized keel bolts without a cutting torch. Heat the bolt end in short cycles, protect surrounding wood with damp rags and a heat sink, then apply penetrant and gently back it out with a breaker bar. Use the two-nut trick to keep threads aligned; if stubborn, drill a small pilot and extract the bolt head, then fit new bolts and rebed. Safer, cheaper, and keeps the project alive.
