How to decide between iterating, pivoting, or scaling for PMF?
#1
I'm a founder of an early-stage B2B SaaS startup, and after six months of soft launch with a handful of pilot customers, I'm struggling to determine if we've truly achieved product-market fit or if we're just seeing initial curiosity from a niche audience. We have some users who love the core functionality, but our retention metrics are inconsistent, and it's unclear whether we need to iterate on the product, pivot our target customer, or double down on sales and marketing to a broader segment. For other founders who have navigated this ambiguous phase, what were the key qualitative and quantitative signals that convinced you that you had found genuine product-market fit? How did you systematically gather and prioritize feedback to decide between refining your current offering versus making a more significant strategic shift, and at what point did you feel confident enough to scale aggressively?
