I’m in the market for a new-to-me car, probably something from the last three or four years, and the infotainment system is suddenly a huge priority for me. My current car only has Bluetooth, and fumbling with my phone on a mount feels incredibly outdated and unsafe. I see that most models now offer Android Auto vs Apple CarPlay, which seems like a game-changer. As an Android user, I’m wondering if one system is generally more stable or has better integration with certain car brands, like Mazda or Hyundai. I’ve also heard some systems are wired-only while others are wireless, and I’m not sure how much that should factor into my decision. It’s a lot to consider for what I thought was just a stereo upgrade.
As an Android Auto user I am curious about stability and wireless options, I know it works in hundreds of models across many brandsciteturn0search1.
Mazda has added both CarPlay and Android Auto to recent models and even touchscreen input across many trimsciteturn1search0.
Wireless is convenient but not universal, and some trims or updates may limit it, Hyundai has rolled out wireless CarPlay and Android Auto on many newer modelsciteturn2search5.
Would you rather prioritize wireless integration or reliability on longer trips?
I tested a 2024 Mazda and the touchscreen upgrade made it easier to reach menusciteturn1search5.
After all this what would you want most in the first test drive a big screen fast wireless AA or rock solid phone calls and navigation?
