Working with communities to translate climate justice into local policy demands
#1
I'm part of a local environmental group, and we're trying to frame our advocacy around the principle of climate justice, focusing on how pollution and extreme weather disproportionately impact low-income neighborhoods in our city. We're planning a community meeting but want to move beyond just raising awareness to proposing actionable policy changes. For others engaged in this work, what are effective ways to collaborate with affected communities to identify their priorities and translate them into concrete demands for local government regarding infrastructure, zoning, and public health?
