Why is my new phone battery draining so fast, any travel tips?

Could be a rogue app or bug, try a soft reset and check for a software update.

In my experience a big update can cause fast drain, a factory reset after backing up fixes it.

If nothing changes push for a warranty swap or exchange to avoid carrying a lemon.
