Why does my left hand feel like it's not mine during episodes?
#1
Lately I’ve been getting these strange episodes where my left hand just feels like it’s not really mine for a minute or two—like it’s a foreign object attached to my wrist. It’s happened three times now, always when I’m relaxed, and it’s the most unsettling feeling. I’m not sure if this is something fleeting or if it’s a sign I should actually talk to a doctor about it.

That sounds really unsettling. If your left hand suddenly feels like a stranger for a minute or two it is understandable to worry. Since it keeps happening and you are relaxed it seems worth checking with a clinician soon.

Could be a miscommunication between brain and body signals. A nerve pinch or compression from how you rest your arm when relaxed can trigger odd sensations in the left hand.

Why frame it as a medical issue right away Could it be about attention and how you notice sensations rather than a danger sign?

I would urge seeing a doctor because it is consistent and involves the left hand They may check for circulation nerves and neurological signs.

In a writing mind the left hand feeling foreign could be a metaphor for a character losing touch with their body It can be a real tension driver in a scene
