Why does adopting a rescue dog feel so overwhelming at first?

So I’ve been thinking about getting a pet for a while, and I finally adopted a rescue dog last month. Honestly, I’m a bit overwhelmed by the responsibility now that it’s real. I love him, but I keep wondering if I’m actually cut out for this—the constant need for walks, training, and just the sheer change to my daily routine has been huge. Has anyone else gone through this kind of sudden lifestyle shift and felt totally unprepared?
