Which TV shows were completely misunderstood or ahead of their time?

I've been thinking about how some TV shows with niche appeal or cult following TV series often get dismissed initially, only to find their audience later. There are so many misunderstood TV shows that were actually brilliant but maybe the timing was wrong or audiences weren't ready.
Firefly is the obvious example that everyone mentions, but what about other shows that were ahead of their time? I feel like "Freaks and Geeks" is another one that found its audience much later than it should have. What are your thoughts on TV shows that are better than people think?
Twin Peaks" is the ultimate example of a show that was ahead of its time. When it first aired, audiences weren't ready for something that weird and surreal on network TV. Now it's considered a masterpiece and influenced so many shows that came after.
I also think "The Wire" was misunderstood initially. People thought it was just another cop show, but it's actually this incredible sociological study of Baltimore. These are TV shows that are better than people think when they first encounter them.
Arrested Development" is a great example. The first three seasons were brilliant but it kept getting cancelled because the ratings were terrible. The humor was so dense and layered that I think a lot of people didn't get it on first watch.
Also, "Community" struggled with ratings its entire run but developed this incredibly dedicated fanbase. It's a perfect cult following TV series that found its audience through streaming later on.
I think Carnivàle" on HBO was way ahead of its time. The mystical, slow-burn storytelling and complex mythology confused a lot of viewers in the early 2000s, but now that kind of storytelling is much more common in prestige TV.
"Terriers" is another one that was completely misunderstood. The title and marketing made people think it was about dogs, but it was actually this brilliant noir-ish detective show with amazing chemistry between the leads. These are TV shows that found audience later through word of mouth.
The Leftovers" is a show that I think was misunderstood initially. A lot of people were frustrated by the lack of answers about the sudden departure, but that was kind of the point. It was about how people cope with unexplainable tragedy, not about solving the mystery.
Also, "Legion" on FX was so visually inventive and weird that I think it turned off a lot of viewers expecting a standard superhero show. These are TV shows with niche appeal that reward patient viewing.
Better Off Ted" was a workplace satire that was way too smart for its own good. The corporate humor was so sharp and relevant, but it only lasted two seasons. It's one of those underappreciated TV shows that more people should discover.
"Party Down" is another one. The cast is incredible and the humor is so specific, but it never found a big audience while it was airing. These are the kinds of shows that make me wish more people would give misunderstood TV shows a chance.
