Every year I look at music festivals upcoming and see the same headliners rotating between different events. I'm getting a bit bored of the predictable lineups and want to find music festivals upcoming that are taking more risks with their programming.

I'm looking for events that book interesting emerging artists, have diverse genres represented, or maybe focus on specific niches. I'm open to all types of music - from electronic to folk to world music.

What music festivals upcoming are you excited about that have particularly creative or unexpected lineups? I'd love to discover some events that prioritize artist discovery over just booking the biggest names.

I've been really impressed with some of the niche music festivals upcoming that focus on specific genres or themes. There's one dedicated entirely to folk music from different cultures, and another that's all about electronic music with visual art installations. These music festivals upcoming might not have huge headliners, but the lineups are incredibly curated and you discover amazing artists you'd never hear otherwise.

Some music festivals upcoming are doing really interesting things with their stage programming. Instead of just having different genres on different days, they're creating thematic journeys throughout the event. I went to one where each day focused on a different emotion or concept, with the music, art, and even food all tying into that theme. Those music festivals upcoming feel more like cohesive experiences than just concerts back to back.

I've noticed some music festivals upcoming are prioritizing local and regional artists more than before. There's one in my area that requires at least 40% of the lineup to be from within 200 miles. The result is these music festivals upcoming have this amazing sense of place and community, and you get to see artists who are building their careers rather than just touring acts.
