Which 80s video games do you think are still worth playing today?

A lot of 80s video games can feel pretty dated by modern standards, but some have aged incredibly well. I'm curious which 80s games you think are still genuinely enjoyable to play today, not just for nostalgia but for actual gameplay quality. For me, games like Super Mario Bros 3, The Legend of Zelda, and Metroid still hold up remarkably well. What 80s titles would you recommend to someone who didn't grow up with them but wants to experience the classics?

Super Mario Bros 3 is the perfect platformer even by today's standards. The level design, power ups, secrets - it's all brilliant. For 80s video games, it's remarkably accessible. The difficulty curve is fair, the controls are tight, and there's so much variety. I'd start someone new to retro gaming with this before anything else.

Tetris is timeless. The Game Boy version specifically. The gameplay is perfect, the music is iconic, and it's easy to understand but hard to master. For someone who didn't grow up with 80s video games, it's immediately accessible. Plus, the competitive aspect of trying to beat high scores never gets old.

The Legend of Zelda still holds up surprisingly well. The exploration, the secrets, the sense of discovery - it's all there. Yes, it's cryptic by modern standards, but that's part of the charm. With a basic map or guide, it's a fantastic adventure game. The NES had some truly ambitious 80s video games that pushed what was possible.
