When is it worth going to a fan convention solo?
#1
I’m trying to decide whether to go to my first big fan convention alone this year. I’ve always wanted to experience the atmosphere and see the special panels, but my friends aren’t into the same things. I keep wondering if it’s worth it to wander around by myself or if that would just feel awkward.

I hear you the idea of stepping into that convention alone is scary but that buzz you chase can still find you even if you go solo

Think of the day as a loose plan with three goals hit a panel wander a bit and chat with a few strangers in line you will likely find a rhythm

Maybe you think you need a crowd to feel confident yet many folks are there with their own lists and you might drift toward someone who shares your niche

I doubt the perfect first time exists and trying to forecast every moment could drain the fun maybe a small gamble is enough

Why frame it as you versus the crowd what if the convention is a chance to test small social experiments and discover what feeling comfortable looks like?

A detailed map of the venue helps the mind you will notice the rhythm of queues and light and color the writing on the badges even tells a story if you pause to read it

Maybe the point is the gaze you bring to the day how much you let the atmosphere shape your own pace and values rather than chasing a perfect panel lineup
