What types of community workshops have you found most valuable?

I'm developing a series of community workshops for our neighborhood and I want to focus on topics that actually bring people together. What community workshops have you attended that created real connections among participants? I'm interested in both skillbased community workshops and more social community workshops.

The community workshops that have been most valuable are the practical ones where people leave with both skills and connections. We've done basic home repair," "container gardening," "digital literacy for seniors." Community workshops work best when they address real needs and create peer learning networks.

We've had great success with community workshops that are series rather than one-offs. A four-week neighborhood preparedness" course brought the same group together regularly, and they formed a WhatsApp group that's still active. Community workshops can seed longer-term connections if designed for continuity.

The community workshops that create the most connection are often the simplest. We did a recipe swap and cooking demo" where people shared family recipes and cooked together. Community workshops don't need fancy topics - just shared interests and hands-on participation.
