What tweaks can improve 1440p gaming feel without big fps loss?

So I finally upgraded to a 1440p monitor and honestly, I'm a bit underwhelmed. My frames took the expected hit, but the visual jump from my old 1080p panel just isn't as dramatic as everyone made it out to be. Maybe the real upgrade is not the resolution alone but the panel tech like color and contrast and response time. If you upgrade to 1440p but keep an older panel you might miss the full effect. Try comparing panel types alongside the resolution.

Calibrate the colors and gamma a bit and give it a few days. Sometimes the mind needs time to readjust to a new density.
