What tires balance rolling resistance, durability, and flats for a century ride?
#1
I'm training for my first century ride and need to replace the stock tires on my road bike, but I'm overwhelmed by the trade-offs between rolling resistance, puncture protection, and durability. I ride on a mix of decent pavement and some rougher country roads, and I want a tire that's fast but won't leave me stranded with flats. For experienced riders, what specific tire models have you found offer the best real-world balance for long-distance training, and is moving to a slightly wider tire, like a 28c, worth the potential aero trade-off for the added comfort and grip?
