What should I expect at my first neighborhood association meeting?

I finally got the neighborhood association meeting schedule from a neighbor, but honestly, I’m a bit intimidated to just show up. I’ve lived here for a few years but have never been, and I’m not sure what to expect or if I’ll just be sitting there listening to arguments about parking and landscaping. For those of you who go, what’s it actually like? Is it worth it for someone who just wants to meet a few more people and maybe understand what’s happening on our street?
