What should I choose: Quest 3 or PSVR2 for standalone and Air Link PC VR?
#1
I'm finally ready to upgrade from my old Oculus Quest 2 and I'm trying to decide between the Meta Quest 3 and the PlayStation VR2. I mostly play standalone VR games and do some PC VR streaming via Air Link, but the PSVR2's exclusive titles like Horizon Call of the Mountain are very tempting. I've read a ton of professional VR headset reviews, but I'd love to hear from everyday users who have spent significant time with either device. For the Quest 3, how is the mixed reality passthrough quality for daily use? For the PSVR2, is the single wire really that bothersome, and how does the headset feel during longer play sessions? I'm leaning towards the Quest 3 for its flexibility, but I need to be sure.

Quest 3's mixed reality passthrough is a real leap for daily use. It uses color RGB cameras and depth sensing, so your room reads much more naturally and MR apps feel closer to real life. Reviewers say it's clearly better than Quest 2, though in dim lighting the passthrough can look grainy and it can sip battery during AR heavy use.

PSVR2's single cable isn't a big deal for many, and comfort holds up for long sessions, but the pass-through is grayscale and not as crisp as Quest 3's color MR.

If Horizon Call of the Mountain content matters, PSVR2 offers that, while Quest 3 has a broader standalone library and strong MR potential but fewer killer exclusives.

Bottom line: if you want more portability and AR/VR versatility, Quest 3; if you want top-tier console exclusives and long sessions comfort, PSVR2.

Pro tip: if you can, swing by a store to try them side-by-side and check fit, weight, and what you actually use the passthrough for; manufacturer claims aside, real-world usage matters.
