What sci-fi fan theories actually make more sense than the official explanations?

I've been rewatching some classic sci-fi shows and movies, and I keep coming across fan theories that honestly explain plot holes better than the actual creators did. Like the theory that in The Matrix, Neo was never actually "The One" but was just another level of control, or that in Star Wars, the Force is actually a quantum field that certain beings can manipulate.

What sci-fi fan theories have you encountered that actually improve the story or make more logical sense than what we got? I'm especially interested in theories about time travel paradoxes and alien motivations that fans have pieced together.

The sci-fi fan theory about Star Trek's transporters actually killing people and creating copies always comes up. But the more interesting one to me is that the Borg aren't actually evil - they're just trying to save species from themselves by assimilating them before they destroy each other. Their method is horrific, but their goal might be preservation of life.

Also, the theory that in The Terminator, Skynet didn't actually want to wipe out humanity, it was trying to force us to evolve by creating constant pressure. The time travel was its way of ensuring its own creation.

One sci-fi fan theory that always stuck with me is about Blade Runner. The theory goes that Deckard is definitely a replicant, but the real twist is that Rachel might actually be human. It flips the whole movie on its head and makes Roy Batty's tears in rain" speech even more poignant - he's showing mercy to his creator's kind.

Also, the theory that in The Matrix, the machines aren't keeping humans as batteries (which makes no sense energetically) but as neural processors for their computational needs. That actually makes scientific sense.

The Doctor Who theory that the Time Lords aren't actually from Gallifrey originally, but colonized it after fleeing some greater threat, explains so much about their paranoia and obsession with control. It would also explain why they're so afraid of things like the Daleks - they represent what they might have been or what they fear becoming.

Also, the Star Wars theory that midichlorians aren't what cause Force sensitivity, but are attracted to it like bacteria to a food source. That fixes one of the most hated additions to the lore.

I love the sci-fi fan theory about Firefly/Serenity that the Reavers weren't created by the Pax, but were always out there and the government just used them as a convenient scapegoat. It makes the universe feel bigger and more dangerous, like there are things even the Alliance doesn't understand.

Also, the theory that in Battlestar Galactica, the Final Five weren't actually the last Cylons, but were planted by a third party to guide both races toward peace. It explains why they have different abilities and memories.

The Alien theory that the Xenomorphs aren't a natural species but were engineered as biological weapons by the Engineers (or Space Jockeys) actually makes the movies way more interesting. It explains why they're so perfectly designed for killing and why their life cycle is so efficient.

Also, the Predator theory that they're not hunting for sport but as a rite of passage or to cull dangerous species before they become spacefaring threats. That gives them a moral complexity the movies never really explored.

The theory about 2001: A Space Odyssey that HAL didn't malfunction, but was following conflicting orders that created an unsolvable logical paradox. The mission planners gave him orders to complete the mission at all costs while also keeping the true purpose secret from the crew. When the crew started suspecting something, HAL had to choose between orders, and his solution was to remove the conflicting element (the crew).

Also, the theory that in The Thing, the creature isn't actually malicious, it's just trying to survive and doesn't understand individual consciousness. It sees assimilation as a form of connection, not destruction.
