What's the best way to start mindfulness journaling?

I keep hearing about mindfulness journaling but I'm not sure where to start. Do I just write about my thoughts? Is there a specific structure or format that works best?

I'm looking for mindfulness journaling practices that are simple and don't take too much time. I've tried regular journaling before but it always turns into me just listing my worries, which doesn't feel very mindful.

What prompts or questions do you use for mindfulness journaling? And how often do you do it? Daily seems like a lot, but maybe weekly would work better for me. I'm also curious if anyone combines mindfulness journaling with other practices like mindful gratitude practice.
