What's the best car maintenance schedule by mileage for modern vehicles?

I've been trying to figure out the optimal car maintenance schedule by mileage for my 2020 sedan. The manual has some recommendations, but I've heard different things from mechanics and friends. Some say oil changes every 3,000 miles, others say 5,000 or even 7,500. Same with tire rotations - every 5,000? 7,500? And what about other things like filter replacement and fluid checks?

I'm trying to balance keeping my car in good shape without overspending on unnecessary maintenance. What schedule has worked best for you all?

I've been following the 5,000 mile schedule for my 2018 Civic and it's been working well. Oil changes every 5k, tire rotation every other oil change (so 10k), and air filter replacement once a year. The key is to check your owner's manual - modern cars with synthetic oil can often go 7,500 to 10,000 miles between changes. The 3,000 mile rule is really outdated unless you're using conventional oil or doing lots of short trips.

For safety reasons, I stick to a pretty strict schedule. Brake inspections every 10,000 miles, tire rotations every 5,000, and fluid checks with every oil change. I know it might seem excessive, but I'd rather spend a little extra on maintenance than risk a failure on the road. The car maintenance schedule by mileage in my manual is just a minimum - I do more frequent checks for peace of mind.

When I'm getting a car ready to sell, I always make sure it's following the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule by mileage. Buyers check for that stuff. For my personal cars, I split the difference - oil changes at 5,000 with synthetic, tire rotations at 7,500, and I check all fluids monthly. Keeping a log helps too, so you know exactly when everything was done last.

I use an app to track my car maintenance schedule by mileage. It sends reminders based on both mileage and time intervals. For my SUV, it's oil every 7,500, tires every 10,000, and cabin air filter every 15,000. The app helps because I don't have to remember - it just tells me what's due based on my actual driving.
