What icebreaker activities work for 15-person remote intern onboarding on Zoom?
#1
I'm helping to onboard a new cohort of remote interns at our company next month, and I'm in charge of planning the virtual orientation session. I want to avoid the awkward silence and forced interaction that usually plagues these meetings, so I'm looking for a few good icebreaker games that are actually engaging and appropriate for a professional but casual setting. The group will be about fifteen people from different departments who have never met, and we'll have an hour blocked on Zoom. For others who have run successful remote onboarding, what activities broke the tension without feeling too childish or invasive? Did you use any specific tools or platforms beyond the basic video call to facilitate the games, and how did you structure the time to allow for genuine connection without letting the icebreakers dominate the entire agenda?
