What helped you get used to a car's touchscreen and climate controls?

I just got a new car with that big central screen, and honestly, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the menus and voice commands. It seems like I have to dig through three layers just to change the cabin temperature while driving, which feels less safe than my old car’s knobs. I’m curious if others have gotten used to this or if it stays this fiddly.

That sounds frustrating. I felt that way when my car came with a big infotainment screen the menu maze made simple tasks like temperature take longer than it should.

From a design point the three layer path creates cognitive load and makes you rush context switching while you drive infotainment often wins on features but loses on safety.

At first I figured voice would do it fast but the climate menu stayed buried I kept poking the screen and felt slower than twisting a knob.

I am not sure I buy the doom claim here plenty of drivers manage the screens after a month or two the real issue is how often the car changes what you are used to.

Could be a broader issue of HMI adaptation where context aware controls reduce glance time what would make it feel intuitive to you?

I still find it clunky but I memorized a couple of steering wheel shortcuts and a quick temp snap helps when the screen is cluttered.
