What have you learned about EV battery health after few years of daily charging?

So I’ve been driving my EV for about a year now, and I’m starting to wonder about the long-term battery health thing. My daily commute is pretty short, but I plug in every night out of habit. A friend mentioned that might actually be worse for the battery pack over time, which has me second-guessing my routine. I’m just curious what other owners have seen with their own cars after a few years.

I get anxious thinking about battery health after a year of daily charging. I plug in every night out of habit and wonder if that routine will bite me later.

My take is that small daily top ups are fine for most packs especially with a reasonable overnight window and a good thermal strategy. What hurts is leaving a high state of charge for long stretches when the car sits hot or cold.

I keep hearing that short daily drives are easy on the pack but the big trips wipe it out. I am wondering if the opposite is true and the habit is wasting cycles.

I am skeptical of the idea that nightly plug is bad. If your battery is kept within a healthy range and the car manages charge curve it might not matter.

Maybe the question should be about overall usage not a single habit like charging climate conditions charger quality and how long you park all matter.

The topic touches battery management and thermal design which is a broader idea in EV tech.

In my car after a few winters the range loss has been small so far but I am not sure if that will last.
