What game development launch lessons ensure a smooth release?

Launch is one of the most stressful parts of game development, and I've learned some hard game development launch lessons. The biggest lesson was to have a detailed launch checklist and start preparing weeks, not days, in advance.

Another important launch lesson is about managing expectations. Be realistic about what launch day will look like – servers might have issues, there will be unexpected bugs, and not everything will go perfectly.

Also, having a post launch plan is crucial. The work doesn't end when the game is released; in many ways, it's just beginning.
