What does true multi modal transportation look like in practice?
#1
We hear a lot about multi modal transportation as the future, but I'm curious what it actually means on the ground. Is it just having different options available, or does it require deeper integration?

To me, true multi modal transportation would mean seamless connections between different modes. You could use one payment method for everything, get real time information about all options in one app, and have physical infrastructure that makes transfers easy and safe.

I'm thinking about things like: transit stations with bike sharing docks and secure bike parking, bus stops with real time tracking displays, and integrated fare systems that don't penalize you for using multiple modes.

But there are also less obvious aspects. Good wayfinding that helps people navigate between modes, staff who can provide information about all options, and planning that considers the entire journey, not just individual segments.

What examples of good multi modal transportation have you experienced? What made them work well?
