What do you think about the Inception ending - does the ambiguity work?
#1
I just rewatched Inception for the third time and went down a rabbit hole reading different takes on the Inception ending explained. I thought I had it figured out, but now I'm more confused than ever. Does the ambiguity make the movie better, or is it just a clever trick to avoid giving a real answer?

Ambiguity in the Inception ending can feel earned or frustrating depending on how you want the story to land. Nolan seems to give you a nudge to decide for yourself.

On the one hand the ambiguity keeps the mystery alive and invites discussion, on the other it can feel like a cheap trick to avoid answering.

If you want a solid reading, track the totem symbolism and what each character believes about reality and trust that ambiguity is part of the point.

A practical approach is to pick one or two readings you like and see how the film feels after you commit to them.
