What do you do when you mispronounce Namor for years?

Okay, this is a weirdly specific thing that’s been bugging me. I just realized that for years, I’ve been unconsciously pronouncing “Namor” as “NAY-mor” in my head whenever I read a comic, but I recently heard someone say it correctly as “nuh-MOR” and my whole internal reading voice feels broken now. Has anyone else had a character’s name just living rent-free in your brain the wrong way for a long time?

Namor has lived in my head the way a misread word sticks around I used to hear NAY mor and it felt right until someone dropped the real pronunciation and now my inner voice feels off and I am listening for the difference

Namor shows up in my head the same way an earworm does and I shrug it off then it gnaws at the back of my brain when I catch someone say nuh MOR and I realize my habit was a tiny smug umbrella over the page

Namor is a case study in memory and sound the way our reading brain locks onto a familiar rhythm and then resists a new one and the shift feels oddly personal and almost philosophical

Maybe the real thing here is not a grand epiphany but a reminder that names travel with time and context and our heads overreact to a small mispronunciation more than it deserves

Namor as a voice in a panel is not just sound it is a mood switch a tiny cue that shifts how you picture him and that can make the scene feel cooler or stranger

One concept here is phonemic drift a mouth thing that shifts with exposure and memory and it travels inward as you reread the same lines

Ever notice a line of dialogue makes you hear Namor differently and it changes your feel for the scene?
