What did you think of the compass shot in the finale, was it a nod to opening?

Okay, so I was rewatching the finale last night, and I can’t shake this one weird feeling. When the protagonist finally picks up the old compass from the desk, the camera holds on it for just a beat too long. It made me wonder if that specific shot was a deliberate nod to the opening scene of the very first season, but maybe I’m just seeing connections that aren’t there. Did anyone else get that vibe, or am I totally overthinking a simple prop?
