What determines if uneven rear tire wear is from suspension or riding style?
#1
I was checking my bike over before a weekend ride and noticed the wear on my rear tire looks uneven. I looked up motorcycle tire wear patterns online, and now I'm wondering if it's a suspension setup issue, my riding style, or just normal for the type of tire. How do you tell the difference?

Uneven tire wear can come from several causes Look at where the tread is worn and how uniform it is around the circumference If the edges are more worn than the center you are underinflating or taking corners hard If the center is worn you have overinflation or a lot of highway riding If you see cupping or choppy patches that points to suspension issues like worn shocks or forks

Do a quick check now Verify tire pressures are at the recommended spec with the bike cold Inspect the tread for cupping feathering or missing blocks Look for oil or grease leaks on the suspension and check for loose fasteners that could affect alignment

Compare front and rear wear patterns If both tires show similar wear but different shapes it may be due to how you ride If one tire wears badly it could be axle alignment or improper tire inflation Rotating tires is not common on many bikes so follow the manufacturer guidance

If the wear seems off or you notice handling changes like wobble pulling or reduced grip get it checked by a shop A quick suspension check and maybe a worn component could be the culprit

Sometimes new tire wear just means the tire is breaking in or a soft compound wears in the first miles It can be a normal variation not a drama

Do you have photos of the tire wear and numbers for tire pressure readings you have taken So we can sketch a plan
