What could cause a stubborn dry patch on my elbow that might be psoriasis?

I’ve had this stubborn patch of dry, flaky skin on my elbow for months now that just won’t clear up with regular lotion. It looks a bit red and the skin feels thickened, almost like a callus, but it’s not from rubbing on anything. I’m starting to wonder if it could be a mild form of psoriasis, though I’ve never been diagnosed with anything like that before. Has anyone else dealt with something similar that just appeared out of the blue?

That elbow patch sounds really stubborn and frustrating I know how it feels when lotion doesn't help and you worry it could be psoriasis Has this ever happened before or is this new?

That description could fit several skin issues not just psoriasis It might be eczema dermatitis or a stubborn dry plaque on the elbow A clinician can check and if needed confirm psoriasis or another cause A simple approach is to keep the area moisturized with a thick petrolatum based ointment and avoid harsh soaps and very hot water until you see someone

Maybe we are framing this as a hidden skin disease when it could be a stubborn dry patch that just needs a stronger moisturizer The word psoriasis is being tossed around a bit early in the game It might help to see it as a signal to tweak care more than a verdict

Perhaps the real question is what keeps elbows comfortable long term not what this is right now The patch could flare with weather friction or stress and the answer may lie in routine care rather than a diagnosis

If it keeps showing up consider a quick check to rule out psoriasis or a fungal spot It’s not about freaking out but getting a clear read on what the patch is doing and what a targeted treatment would be
