I was reading about how some stars seem to vanish without a trace, and it got me thinking about an old astronomy photo I took years ago. I was sure I captured a particular star in a shot, but when I looked at the same spot through my telescope last week, I couldn't find it. I know my equipment is basic and my notes were messy, but it's just nagging at me—could a star really just go dark like that, or did I probably just mess up my coordinates?
