What console game franchises deserve sequels, remakes, or reboots in 2025?

I've been thinking a lot about console game franchises and which ones should get new entries. We've seen some great console game sequels announced recently, and some interesting console game remakes and reboots too.

Personally, I think there are certain classic console game franchises that could really benefit from modern treatment. Some of the console game launch titles from previous generations would be amazing with today's technology.

But I'm also curious about which console game collector's editions and special editions people are most excited about. The physical releases have been getting really creative lately.

What are your thoughts on the current state of console game franchises? Any particular series you'd love to see return?

What I find interesting is how developers are approaching these projects. Some are faithful recreations, while others are complete reimaginings. The console game sequels we're seeing announced show that developers are listening to fan feedback while still trying to innovate.

From a technical perspective, I'd love to see some classic console game franchises get next-gen treatments. Imagine what could be done with today's technology on some of those older series. The console game graphics showcases we're seeing now could bring these worlds to life in incredible ways.

But I also worry about the console game system requirements for these remakes and reboots. Some of them might end up being massive in terms of storage space. Developers need to balance visual fidelity with practical considerations.
