What Chevrolet models have the best reliability at 200k miles?

I'm looking at Chevrolet reliability 200k miles and wondering which models actually hold up. I've heard mixed things - some people swear by their Silverados, others have had issues with certain engines.

What's the consensus on Chevrolet models that can actually reach 200k miles with reasonable maintenance? Are there specific engines like the LS series or the Duramax diesels that are known for better longevity? How do Chevrolets compare to other American cars that last 200k miles?

Chevrolet reliability 200k miles varies quite a bit by model and engine. The LS-based V8 engines (4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L) in trucks and SUVs have proven to be very durable. I've documented many Silverados, Tahoes, and Suburbans with 300k+ miles on these engines.

The key issues with these are often the AFM (Active Fuel Management) system on later models and transmission longevity. The 4L60E transmission in particular needs regular fluid changes to last.

For American cars that last 200k miles, Chevrolet has some strong contenders. The Chevrolet Impala with the 3.8L V6 is known for longevity - I've seen several taxi versions with 400k+ miles.

The older Chevrolet Cavaliers with the 2.2L engine also seem to last forever. They're not exciting cars, but they're simple and durable. Regular maintenance seems to keep them going well past 200k miles.

The Chevrolet Duramax diesels deserve mention for longevity. I've seen several Duramax-powered trucks with 300k+ miles still towing heavy loads. The LB7 and LLY engines had injector issues, but if those were addressed, they seem to last.

The Allison transmissions paired with these diesels are also known for durability. Regular fluid and filter changes seem to be the key to keeping them running at high mileage.

Comparing Chevrolet to Ford for truck durability 200k miles, I think both can achieve it with proper maintenance. The Chevrolet 6.6L Duramax seems to be holding up well in newer trucks.

What I've noticed is that Chevrolet trucks seem to have more issues with electrical components and sensors at high mileage than Ford trucks do. The mechanical parts are solid, but the electronics can be problematic as these trucks age.
