What causes micro-stutter during spell effects even with high FPS?
#1
So I’ve been playing a lot of the new expansion lately and I keep noticing this weird micro-stutter whenever there’s a lot of spell effects on screen, even though my overall fps counter stays high. I’m on a pretty decent setup so it’s got me scratching my head. Has anyone else run into something like this and figured out what’s actually causing the hitches?

I keep noticing micro stutter when the screen is full of spell effects even though my fps stays solid which makes me think frame pacing or shader compile hitches are the culprit.

That moment when a big spell stack hits and the micro stutter breaks the rhythm it feels almost personal like the game paused for a breath.

I am not sure but I would expect a hitch to come with a real fps dip and not as a smooth line with tiny pauses during effects like micro stutter.

A skeptical note a stutter that shows up while fps stays up might be more about how your GPU chunks work or memory caching than a problem with the engine and maybe it is micro stutter in disguise.

Maybe this is about how the game schedules work on the GPU during heavy spell moments rather than a fault in your hardware which would shift how you think about micro stutter.

If you want a quick test turn off motion blur and tweak a single rendering setting to see if the micro stutter eases.
