What causes front outer-shoulder wear on a FWD hot hatch on track?
#1
I'm a novice track day enthusiast, and after my last event, I noticed my front tires have significantly more wear on the outer shoulder compared to the rest of the tread, while the rears are wearing more evenly. I'm driving a front-wheel-drive hot hatch on 200 treadwear street tires, and I'm trying to understand what these tire wear patterns are telling me about my setup and driving style. My current suspension alignment is the factory street spec. For more experienced drivers and mechanics, what is the most likely culprit for this kind of uneven wear—is it primarily a camber issue, excessive body roll from soft suspension, or am I just over-driving the front end into corners? What alignment adjustments should I consider for a dual-purpose car that still sees street use, and how much can tire pressure changes mitigate wear during a track session?
