What caused a permission error when starting my Mac local dev server?
#1
So I finally tried to set up a local development environment on my new Mac, following a guide that seemed straightforward. I got through the package manager install okay, but when it came time to actually start the server, I just got this persistent permission error that the tutorials don’t seem to address. Has anyone else hit a wall right at the finish line like this?

That permissions wall at the finish line feels personal and annoying I get it I was there too and it shadows the whole sense of progress

Maybe the guide is not broken only the framing assumes a smooth path the real snag could be the setup not the idea behind it

Try stepping back to see who owns the project folder and what access is granted then adjust with care maybe a simple chmod or moving the dir to a writable location

Im curious how that moment lands for others for some its a test of patience and habit

Maybe the finish line is the point where you test the promise of the tool for a moment then decide if you want to adjust the plan rather than press on to a clean run

Permissions can be stubborn on macs especially with fresh installs and gatekeeper stuff

Could this be a sign you should try a container or a VM for the dev env rather than fighting local permissions
