What can I do to close deals without making prospects feel forced?
#1
I’ve been in sales for a few years now, and I keep hitting this weird wall where a prospect seems genuinely interested, we have a great conversation, but then they just stall when it’s time to decide. I’m starting to wonder if my whole approach to building urgency is actually working against me, making them feel pressured instead of motivated. Has anyone else felt like their own push for a close creates more hesitation?

Yeah I have been there I know that wall you feel when a prospect seems into it and then goes quiet It can feel personal Like the urgency you push only triggers resistance Maybe try slowing a bit and treating the next step as a mutually agreed plan not a finish line

From a funnel view the pattern is you treat interest as a decision moment instead of a small milestone You might be missing validation of value and risk more than you think Try offering a couple of concrete low risk steps that move the conversation forward without pressuring for a close

Sometimes I read it wrong and think the stall is about price but it is often a stakeholder timing or a budgeting check They are weighing the project not you Its easy to blame urgency but more often its process

Urgency can be a trap The more you chase the more the buyer builds distance If you focus on building trust and clarity about next steps you may see the stall ease up

I wonder if the framing is the issue The idea of a final close versus ongoing validation changes the game It could help to reframe as a shared plan for implementation rather than a single moment of decision

I had a similar run and I found a simple tactic a short trial and a clear next step that does not require a big yes It lowers risk and gives both sides a window to assess
