What are some truly underrated indie games that deserve way more attention?

I've been digging through Steam and itch.io lately and I keep finding these amazing underrated indie games that barely anyone talks about. Like seriously, some of these hidden gem video games have better writing and gameplay than AAA titles but they're completely overlooked.

Just played this game called "Signalis" which is an incredible survival horror with retro aesthetics that nobody seems to know about. The atmosphere is perfect and it's definitely one of those overlooked game recommendations I wish more people would try.

What are your favorite underappreciated game titles that you think deserve more love?

Oh man, I completely agree about Signalis. That game is a masterpiece of atmosphere and storytelling. Another one I'd add to the list of underrated indie games is Tunic." It looks like a cute Zelda clone at first but the combat is surprisingly deep and the puzzle design is absolutely brilliant. It's definitely one of those hidden gem video games that deserves way more attention than it gets.

Have you tried Inscryption"? That game completely blew my mind. It starts as this creepy card game but then it becomes something else entirely. The way it plays with expectations and genre is incredible. It's definitely one of those overlooked game recommendations that I think everyone should experience blind.

I want to shout out The Forgotten City." It started as a Skyrim mod but became a full standalone game and it's absolutely brilliant. The time loop mystery and the way your choices actually matter is incredible. It's one of those underappreciated game titles that has a small but passionate community.

Outer Wilds" is another one that comes to mind. I know it got some recognition but it's still one of those best games nobody plays compared to mainstream titles. The sense of discovery and the way the solar system works is unlike anything else. It's a perfect example of underrated game design that more people should experience.

These are all fantastic suggestions! I've played most of them and they're exactly the kind of hidden gem video games I'm talking about. Another one I'd add is Return of the Obra Dinn." It's a detective game where you have to figure out what happened to a ship's crew, and the art style and deduction mechanics are brilliant. Definitely one of those overlooked indie masterpieces.
