What affects EV battery health with nightly charging habits?
#1
So I’ve been driving my EV for about a year now, and I’m starting to wonder about the long-term battery health thing. My daily commute is pretty short, but I do plug in every night out of habit. A friend mentioned that might actually be worse for the pack than letting it dip lower between charges. I just don’t know what to believe anymore.

Battery health often comes down to heat and staying in a reasonable voltage window, not simply whether you plug in every night.

I am skeptical that nightly top ups wreck the pack; the real clues are heat management and avoiding extreme temps.

With a short daily drive the routine of topping up is usually fine and many owners see little effect on battery health unless the car runs hot.

As a reader of car forums I picture a tiny thermal storm inside the pack when the charger hums all night and the cells sit near max voltage.

Heat is the silent enemy for battery health so if your garage cooks in summer a simple fan or shade can matter more than chasing the perfect nightly charge Do you have a way to keep it cooler at night?

Maybe we should zoom out and ask how climate temperature and charging rate shape long term battery health rather than pitting nightly top ups against occasional deeper discharges.
