What’s the difference in passenger comfort between Embraer 175 and CRJ-700?
#1
I’ve been flying the same regional route for work every month for years, always on an Embraer 175, but last week they swapped it for a CRJ-700. The whole boarding and deplaning process felt so much more cramped and awkward, and I’m wondering if that’s just the reality of regional jets or if others have noticed a big difference in passenger experience between those two airframes.

I hate cramped aircraft cabin vibes and the swap from an E175 to a CRJ-700 last month hit all the usual notes for me. The aircraft cabin just feels tighter, the aisles seem narrower, and I end up closer to my seatmate before boarding finishes.

From a design angle the E175 uses a wider main cabin and different row spacing. The CRJ-700 with 2 by 2 seating and narrower aisles can make deplaning feel slower even if the aircraft length is similar. In the aircraft cabin that changes perception.

I kept thinking maybe it's all in my head, but the first time I stood in the CRJ-700 aisle I felt the squeeze in the aircraft cabin and the line shuffled differently.

Could be a gate layout or crew timing. The aircraft cabin isn't the only variable. If the jet bridge is tight or stairs are used that can magnify the cramped feeling.

Reframe the issue maybe the problem is not space per person but how space is allocated. Seat pitch, luggage stowage and where you place the carry on in the aircraft cabin all change the vibe.

Do you notice seat width and pitch vary with airline config and could that affect comfort more than the aircraft cabin or airframe name?
