Touchscreen accuracy problems - smartphone touchscreen calibration needed?
#1
My phone's touchscreen has been acting really weird lately. I have a Xiaomi phone and the touch accuracy is way off - I'll tap on one thing and it registers somewhere else, especially around the edges. It's like the smartphone touchscreen calibration is completely wrong. I've tried the built-in touchscreen test in the settings, and it shows some spots aren't registering properly. I've also tried a factory reset, but the problem persists. Is there any way to manually recalibrate the touchscreen on Android phones, or is this always a hardware issue that needs professional repair? The phone is only 6 months old, so this is pretty disappointing.

Smartphone touchscreen calibration issues are usually hardware, not software. Android doesn't have built-in calibration tools like some older devices did. The touchscreen test you ran confirms it's likely a hardware problem. It could be a failing digitizer, loose connection, or even screen damage. If the phone is only 6 months old, check if it's still under warranty. Most manufacturers will repair or replace for free if it's a manufacturing defect.

Xiaomi phones sometimes have smartphone touchscreen calibration problems after updates. Check if there's a service menu you can access by dialing a code like *#*#6484#*#* or similar. Some Xiaomi models have hidden calibration tools. Also, try booting into safe mode to rule out app interference. If it works fine in safe mode, a third-party app is causing the smartphone touchscreen calibration issues.

I had similar smartphone touchscreen calibration issues with my old phone. Turned out the screen protector was causing problems. Some tempered glass protectors can interfere with touch sensitivity, especially if they're not perfectly aligned or if there's air bubbles. Try removing any screen protector and see if that helps. Also, make sure your hands are clean and dry - some lotions or moisture can affect touch accuracy.

Check if the smartphone touchscreen calibration problems are worse when the phone is charging. Some phones have grounding issues that affect touch accuracy when plugged in. Also, try using the phone without a case - some cases can put pressure on the screen edges and affect touch response. If it's a hardware issue, it will likely need professional repair since smartphone touchscreen calibration usually requires specialized equipment.
