Structure the first 90 minutes of a productive morning routine with flexibility
#1
I've been experimenting with different morning routines for productivity after consistently hitting a mid-afternoon energy slump, and while I've had some success with waking up earlier and avoiding my phone for the first hour, I struggle with maintaining consistency and often default to reactive tasks like checking email, which derails my entire day before it even starts. I know the theory about prioritizing deep work in the morning, but translating that into a sustainable, personalized habit that accounts for my variable schedule and energy levels feels impossible. For those who have successfully built a morning routine that genuinely sets a productive tone, what was the single most impactful change you made? How do you structure the first 90 minutes of your day to build momentum, and what flexibility do you build in for days when motivation is low or unexpected obligations arise?

Mine: the single biggest change was locking in a single 60-minute deep-work block every morning and treating it as a non-negotiable appointment with myself. No email, no socials—just focused work on the day’s most important task, and I build everything else around that.
