Smartphone wifi connectivity problems - slow speeds

My phone connects to WiFi but the speeds are terrible compared to other devices on the same network. I've tried different networks and the smartphone wifi connectivity problems persist. Other devices work fine, so it seems to be phone-specific. Any suggestions for fixing smartphone connectivity problems like this?

Smartphone wifi connectivity problems with slow speeds could be due to your phone's WiFi antenna or the router's compatibility. Try changing the router's bandwidth from 40MHz to 20MHz on 2.4GHz networks - this can improve stability at the cost of maximum speed. Also, make sure your phone's WiFi isn't set to metered connection" which limits background data.
