Should we adopt Apache 2.0 or AGPLv3 for our core library?
#1
I'm the lead developer for a small startup, and we're preparing to release the core library of our software as open source to build community engagement, but we need to choose a license that protects our ability to offer commercial enterprise features later. I'm torn between the Apache 2.0 license and a more restrictive copyleft option like the AGPLv3. For other founders who have navigated this, what were the key business and community considerations in your choice, and have you encountered any unintended consequences with downstream usage or contributions under your selected license?
