Shifting to value-based freelance pricing for copywriting projects
#1
I've been freelancing as a copywriter for about six months, and while I'm getting consistent work, I'm realizing my hourly rate is unsustainable and doesn't reflect the value I provide, so I need to transition to project-based or value-based freelance pricing strategies. The challenge is I have no idea how to accurately estimate project scope, communicate my new pricing to existing clients, or handle negotiations without underselling myself or scaring off potential work. For freelancers who have successfully made this shift, how did you determine your initial project rates and create clear, tiered packages? What's your process for writing proposals that justify your price, and how do you handle clients who insist on an hourly rate or try to negotiate you down significantly?
