Seeking HS media literacy activities to deconstruct sources and fake-news incentives
#1
I teach high school social studies, and I'm developing a new media literacy unit to help students critically evaluate online information, especially regarding current events and political claims. The challenge is making it engaging and practical beyond just listing fact-checking websites. For other educators or researchers in this area, what are the most effective lesson plans or interactive exercises you've used to teach students how to deconstruct sources, recognize manipulation tactics, and understand the incentives behind the creation and spread of fake news?
