Scalability trade-offs when hybrid deployments blend on-prem and cloud services
#1
I'm trying to build a small, portable darkroom for developing black and white film that I can set up and break down in my tiny, windowless bathroom without permanently altering the rental space. My budget is under $200, and I've sourced a used enlarger and three plastic developing tanks, but I'm struggling with the lightproofing and ventilation. I need to create a temporary seal around the door and install a safe, red safelight that won't fog the film, all while ensuring adequate airflow to handle chemical fumes without installing an exhaust fan that would violate my lease. The space is only about 5 by 7 feet, and I have to store everything in a closet when not in use, so any solution needs to be compact and quick to deploy for a few hours at a time.

Plan a portable, light-tight setup: seal the door with weatherstripping and a magnetic sweep, add a blackout curtain. Use a small red safelight in a DIY hood with a single red LED bulb, tested with paper. For fumes, place a compact carbon-filter air scrubber near the door and vent through a temporary window kit to stay lease-friendly. Collapse into a tote.
