Recovery support groups with a positive forward-looking approach
#1
I've been participating in recovery support groups for a while now, and while they've been incredibly helpful, I'm noticing that many of them focus almost exclusively on the past - on the addiction, the trauma, the struggles. There's not enough emphasis on building a positive future.

I'm looking for recovery support groups that incorporate more forward-looking, strengths-based approaches. Places where we talk about building new skills, discovering interests and passions, and creating a life worth staying sober for - not just avoiding relapse.

The traditional groups I'm in are vital for shared understanding and accountability, but I feel like I need something more to actually build a fulfilling life in recovery.

Has anyone found recovery support groups that balance the necessary work of processing the past with actively building a positive future? I'm interested in groups that might incorporate elements of positive psychology, mindfulness, or creative expression alongside traditional recovery work.

I'm open to any type of recovery focus - substance use, mental health, trauma, etc. Just looking for that forward momentum.
