Real-world sustained performance: Ryzen 7950X vs i9-14900K for 4K editing
#1
I'm building a new workstation for 4K video editing and 3D rendering, and I'm stuck deciding between the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X and the Intel Core i9-14900K. I've looked at synthetic CPU benchmarks, but I'm finding it hard to translate those numbers into real-world performance for my specific applications like DaVinci Resolve and Blender. The benchmark charts often show one CPU winning in single-threaded tests and another in multi-threaded, which doesn't give a clear picture for mixed workloads. For content creators who have built similar systems, which processor delivered better actual performance and stability under sustained loads? Did you encounter any thermal throttling or platform issues that aren't apparent in the reviews?
